“Too much Love Will Kill You “ 22/12/24 Last performance Asiatopia 26 at BACC by Non Grata Group: Al Paldrok, Taje Tross, Siim Kuljus (EST) and Arti Grabowski (POL)
They are the artists who closed this year’s Asiatopia festival.
The artists’ previous performances were incorporated into the remaining works, including the people in the studio, who suddenly became part of the work without realizing it.
They transported us into a world of chaos and turmoil. Chairs became unusual sculptures. Tuk-tuks, accompanied by music, were vehicles of color. Their movement was like a tornado of breathtaking power.
They are a group of artists from Eastern Europe, from countries that had long struggled with wars against superpowers. But now they have finally liberated themselves and declared their independence.
They are university professors. Their work supports a chaos theory that we may not be familiar with.
Their group’s name, Non Grata meaning “Unwanted Persons,” is challenging, difficult to accept, and raises questions.
But their work immerses us in something that cannot be easily resisted. Their work is a new dynamic in a country where progress is frowned upon. Submission is charming. Many were curious and apprehensive. Some were shocked. Of course, it was the first time. For both them and us. Some shook their heads. Many had wide eyes and hearts beating wildly. Some people smile at the chaotic image. It’s no different from the reality of society, the confusion that’s hard to understand and unacceptable.
If we don’t turn away first, but dare to confront it, and take some time, we’ll know the answer.
That all events have their own cause and effect, and don’t just happen randomly, even if they seem chaotic. The deliberate disorder reflects the overlapping nature of reality. However, if we’re not overly “sensitive to the initial conditions,” we’ll see “being and passing away.” Finally, the chaotic image, the chaotic situation, returns to the empty studio room. Nothing is broken, everything returns to its original state.
It’s as if nothing ever happened. Only the lingering memories remain, those that everyone carries with them in their minds. They’ve both shared their experiences.
